Professor Cownie presents paper on U.K.'s first female law professor

Last week Professor Fiona Cownie delivered a paper at an invited Workshop on Legal Biography held at the Max Planck Institute in Frankfurt. Fiona spoke about the U.K.'s first female law professor, Professor Claire Palley, as 'Academic, Wife/ Mother and Public Figure', reflecting on Professor Palley's significant role in the public life of Northern Ireland during 'The Troubles', as well as her domestic role as mother of five sons and her contribution to the development of the discipline of Law through her work on human rights and the rule of law.
