21st Anniversary of the Inderpal Rahal Memorial Trust

On Thursday 1 November Dr. Forough Ramezankhah was invited to speak about her research and legal and academic career at the celebration commemorating the 21st anniversary of the Inderpal Rahal Memorial Trust, at the Garden Court Chambers, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London. In her presentation, Forough addressed Baroness Shami Chakrabarti, Her Honour Judge Khatun Sapnara, Judy Khan QC, Mona Arshi and Frances Webber as well as other trustees and legal practitioner in the field of immigration, asylum, and human rights.

Following the tragic death of young barrister Inderpal Rahal a charitable trust has been established in her memory, to enable women experiencing financial hardship to further their legal education. The trust applies to women who are from an immigrant or refugee background and who intend to practise or teach law in the UK and are committed to social justice. The Trust makes awards towards undertaking or pursuing Bar or Solicitors’ exams, pupillage and solicitors’ training. Forough was the recipient of the award in 2005.
