Thinking outside the box: Strict liability and offsetting risks

Seminar 5 of Liability Vs Innovation: Unpacking Key Connections

4 May 2017, 9.30-5.30 pm, CM0.12

PI Professor Tsachi Keren-Paz

Keele will host the  fifth seminar in this ESRC funded series, titled ‘Thinking outside the box: strict liability and offsetting risks’, on Thursday 4 May. The seminar will combine academic papers with stakeholder discussions on whether, as an alternative to the proposals in the Medical Innovation Bill,  there should be strict liability for injuries from innovative treatments, or alternatively, that determinations of standard of care and the amount paid as damages should be adjusted to take into account the benefits to third parties (mainly potential future patients) from innovative treatments. For more details on the speakers, programme and seminar series see the project website.

All welcome. The seminar is free to attend and lunch is provided, although please register here.
