- Studying for a PhD
Trevor de Middelaer - PhD and MA in Human Resource Management
I have recently graduated with a PhD in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations. Whilst studying, I was appointed as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at KMS which enabled me to fund my studies and gave me valuable experience in teaching students. Prior to joining Keele, initially as an MA student, I had worked in the public sector for many years and had not considered a PhD as a likely future direction to take. However, after enjoying my MA studies and receiving encouragement from the lecturers I decided to apply for a PhD.
I found studying for a PhD different to an MA, as it is an exploratory form of study, yet my MA course helped develop my writing style, study skills and gave me the necessary confidence to
choose to do a PhD. I am indebted to the staff at the KMS who have been unwavering in their support, both at MA and PhD level.
