Spotlight on Sharon Farrow

I joined Keele Business School in 2017 after 13 years working within Welfare to Work Programmes, and the Higher Education sector, both within practitioner and managerial roles, raising career aspirations, and supporting individuals into the world of work. With experience of designing and developing face to face and online mentoring pathways within HE, including successful accreditation by the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation for an employability scheme tackling social exclusion within the professions.

As Student Placement Officer, I lead on supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students to identify, secure, and successfully complete work placements. I work with local, and national organisations, from SMEs to multinational corporations to promote opportunities to students, raise their career aspirations, and showcase Keele talent.

Keele Business School Placements Service offers a unique, personalised service to students, where support and employer liaison activities are driven by student preferences. For employers we offer a managed vacancy service where we collate applications, shortlist and arrange interviews. We also connect students starting their placement journey with those on currently on placement, or recently returned in order to share experiences, receive practical hints and tips around application processes, and gain that important competitive edge.

Keele Business School students have secured placements in a variety of organisations including Nintendo, IBM, Office For National Statistics, Grant Thornton, JCB, Sainsburys, Bosch, and HMRC, with several securing graduate positions before embarking on their final year of study.
