Dr Josep Sule-Suso's research group in ISTM has been awarded £38,500 by the UHNM Charity for a project on the application of SIFT-MS in the diagnosis of cancer.
Dr Sule-Suso said: "The project is aimed at studying volatiles from the breath of patients with SIFT-MS so one day we might be able to diagnose lung cancer through breath and assess how lung cancer responds to treatment through breath. The funding will be towards supporting a Research Assistant - Abigail Rutter - to carry out this work over  a period of at least two years."
