Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
The ISTM has students and staff from all over the world and this dynamic community makes studying and working here a unique experience. Within this setting, the ISTM is committed to promoting inclusivity and equality, and to creating an environment of mutual respect and dignity. With this in mind, the ISTM has an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and Athena SWAN (Scientific Women's Academic Network) Committee with members from across our 3 sites. This EDI Committee meets regularly to co-ordinate initiatives to improve the staff and student experience within the ISTM and welcomes input from students and staff. This Committee aims to promote equality, diversity and inclusion across the ISTM and also address the under-representation of women and ethnic minorities in science, technology, engineering, medicine and mathematics and encourage their career progression. The ISTM has a Bronze Department Award from the Athena SWAN Charter and continutes to progress and support equality across the Institute.
