Circling (Again) Exhibition is back and online!
Circling is a new moving image exhibition. It explores the physical and emotional journeys attached to the experience of living with persistent pain. The exhibition was first opened at Keele's Art Gallery during March 2020, the exhibition has now been re-imagined online.
Circling explores the relationship of movement, time and progression within the experience of living with chronic pain. The work emerged from a collaborative fellowship project, awarded in 2018/19 to dance and moving image artist Dr Anna Macdonald and literary geographer and writer Dr Ceri Morgan by the Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
The fellowship brought together geopoetics (site-responsive creative practices) dance and film and involved working for over a year with six participants with a variety of chronic pain conditions. In 2019-20, the Keele Institute for Social Inclusion awarded funding to develop the work further to focus on the relationship between chronicity, pain and hope in collaboration with bioethicist, Professor Anthony Wrigley.
