Biography
I read English and Philosophy as an undergraduate at the University of Reading where I also took my doctorate. My main research areas focus on the works of Ezra Pound and Henry James, the intellectual history of Modernist aesthetics, American notions of artistry, relations between history, fiction, and commercial forms, and literary negotiations with science.
Research and scholarship
Current projects include a monograph on the constructivist line in American literary language from Emerson to Brautigan, a further monograph on the Hugh Selwyn Mauberley sequence, and essays on Modernism and the notion of the Fourth Dimension (in collaboration with Meriel Lland). Most recently, I have completed an article on Brautigan's Trout Fishing in America, am in the process of revising '"A Physics of Thought": The Modernist Materialism of James Hunecker', and will begin an article on the fiscality of James's The Spoils of Poynton.
