From September 2017 the School will offer the opportunity for students to study abroad on what is called a Year 2b. This basically means that you will study for four years and one of those years will be spent in an international partner institution. Providing you pass your second year with an average of 60% you will be able to choose where you go to study (subject to approval) from a wide choice of Universities across the World.
You will spend 50% of this year studying subjects related to your Keele degree. This could include Biology, Sport Science, Psychology, Health and Social Care, Public Health, Nutrition, and Kinesiology to name a few examples. You will receive advice from staff within the School regarding the best universities to match your interests. The other 50% of the year can be spent studying any subjects that you are interested in. You may wish to stay close to your degree area or you could learn languages, take management or marketing options or even broaden your knowledge on History, English or the Classics. Whatever you choose this additional international year will broaden your educational and social horizons.
Although the year abroad will not count towards your degree classification the School will set you some personal and professional goals. In addition, you will pay a much reduced tuition fee for the year abroad but will still have access to the support from the School and regular contact with the Study Abroad Tutor.
As this is a new initiative for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Science we are still in the process of obtaining formal approval and creating documentation so please keep checking our website for updates on this exciting new initiative. If you are applying for 2017 onwards and are interested in the international year you just need to apply for the 3 year degree in the usual way and we will transfer successful applicants to the 4 year degree when you arrive at Keele.
