After qualifying from Coventry University in 2008, I worked as a Higher Level Physiotherapy Technician when I first qualified at West Park Hospital, to gain experience in the NHS for 6 months and then I went on to gain my first Band 5 role with South Staffs PCT in 2009. I was seconded to Social Services to work for the Enablement Team and worked in an MDT comprising of Social Worker's, OT's, CPN's and myself as the only Physiotherapist. I progressed as a Band 6 Physiotherapist in 2011 and integrated with the Community Intervention Service within Staffordshire and Stoke On Trent NHS Partnership Trust (SSOTP), working with a wider MDT comprising of OT's, Physio's, Social Worker's, Nurses, Rehab assistant's and treating predominantly care of the elderly, orthopaedic, neurological, stroke and palliative patient's.

In 2011 I took a 6 month sabbatical from work and went travelling on my own to Dubai, Thailand, South East Asia, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. This was an amazing experience to gain further life experience and skills.

When I returned to work in 2012, I continued to work in a community setting, providing a Physiotherapy service for step up/ down beds, enablement packages, Palliative care, domiciliary Physiotherapy and a rapid response service preventing hospital admissions.

I have a special interest in the management of patients with long term neurological conditions, stroke, palliative care and applying an holistic MDT bio-pyschosocial approach to assessment and treatment. I also have a passion and special interest in service improvement to help provide an efficient and effective service.

During my time as a clinician, I was a practice educator for Keele students and thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of participating in Physiotherapy education. Therefore, in 2015, I did a secondment as a Clinical Placement Facilitator (CPF) for SSOTP, to monitor the quantity and quality of clinical placements within the Trust for all Allied Health Profession's including, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Dietetics and Podiatry.

I returned to my substantive post as a Senior Physiotherapist for a period of time and left the NHS post in June 2017.

Since then, I am delighted to have joined the School of Health and Rehabilitation, working within the Clinical Team in my role as Practice Experience Lead, working across Physiotherapy, Radiography and Rehab Science degrees.
