Benn Digweed

Benn first gained his BSc (hons) in Sport Science from Liverpool John Moores University, then achieved his pre-registration Masters in physiotherapy from Southampton University in 2009.
Benn initially worked in the NHS as a rotational junior therapist, during which time he worked part time in sports. The sport teams included; Chelsea FC academy, GB boxing, Hampshire Cricket Club and Southampton Solent University’s Talented athlete programme. From this work he gained the role as Head Physiotherapist at Solent University where he set up and ran a private clinic for staff, students and external customers. This service involved supporting Solent University’s scholarship athletes of their High Performance Academy.

During this last role Benn completed a part time PGdip in Neuromusculoskeleal physiotherapy at Brighton University to gain entry to the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapist (MACP). He has also completed many courses including cycle fitting, manual therapy, acupuncture, podiatry and running injury screening. Between his work at Keele University, Benn also works for Manchester City football Academy.

Part of Benn's role along with Fraser Philp is to help further establish an onsite private physiotherapy clinic within SHAR. Their time is split between teaching and clinical commitments, which also involves facilitating student learning through supervised sport clinic experiences.
