Dr Jackie Waterfield Visits Otaga University
Dr Jackie Waterfield recently returned from a visit to Otaga University in New Zealand where as part of National Teaching Fellow Award she explored the ongoing debate around the level of ‘qualifying’ health programmes and practice based experience. During her time there she was invited to speak to the Health Faculty on “What is in a name or a degree – added value and for whom?”. Jackie also ran a seminar on issues around practice-based learning attended by educators from all across the South Island (in person and electronically). This was linked to her current research on 'gatekeeping' in physiotherapy.
