Course Overview
The aim of this module is to provide learners with an introduction to medical education. This will enable them to begin to develop their understanding of medical education and to start to apply that understanding within their teaching role.
Overview
The role of a health professional incorporates teaching and facilitating the learning of other health professionals and patients. This medical education syllabus is studied online through the Keele Learning Environment (KLE) to enable participants to study at a convenient time and place.
Module aims
The aim of this module is to provide learners with an introduction to medical education. This will enable them to begin to develop their understanding of medical education and to start to apply that understanding within their teaching role.
Entry requirements
This module is open to health professionals with a relevant first degree.
Module content
This module will enable the learner to critically interpret the theoretical frameworks that apply to learning, teaching and assessment and develops understanding in the areas that are relevant in medical education, with particular reference to clinical settings, and the education and training needs of professionals within the NHS.
Teaching and assessment
Students will be expected to engage in on-line discussions with peers on the module, design, implement and evaluate a teaching session or an assessment and write a personal teaching philosophy statement.
