    Course Overview

    This is a module run over 6 months which supports the participant in implementing a service improvement project or completing an audit cycle in their workplace. This will be accompanied by a description of the project evaluated against the literature.

    This is a module run over 6 months which supports the participant in implementing a service improvement project or completing an audit cycle in their workplace. This will be accompanied by a description of the project evaluated against the literature.

    Module aims

    The module will allow the student, in consultation with an educational supervisor, to develop and execute a personal learning plan in a chosen area of healthcare practice and be assessed on the evidence provided, against learning outcomes previously negotiated with the student.

    Entry requirements

    Graduate or equivalent healthcare professional.

    Module content

    Initial meetings with an educational supervisor to develop and agree the learning outcomes, followed by a period of planned, self-directed learning support as requested by the student.

    Teaching and assessment

    The nature and objectives of the project, the format of the portfolio, and the evidence on which assessment will be based will be negotiated at the start of the module by the student and supervisor, and approved by the module leader.

    The portfolio will include as a minimum:

    written or other media as agreed, a personal learning plan with a reflection on the journey through the project, and the project report.

    The detailed learning goals specific to the project will be negotiated at the start of the project and an agreement reached between student and supervisor and approved by the module leader about the level of evidence that will be considered satisfactory.

    Please note: In your programme you may sometimes be expected to role play and engage in simulated clinical scenarios with other students, such as the practice and observation of practical skills in physical contact with other students. For some specific practices, this may necessitate modification of dress - e.g., to shorts and t-shirt. These activities will be conducted in a professional, safe, respectful and culturally sensitive way, under the supervision of academic staff, according to a defined protocol. This does not apply to Clinical Pharmacy practice modules as all of these modules are distance learning.
