We are fortunate to have a 617 acre site which provides a very pleasant and green environment and also has a wealth of biodiversity and resources which make it an excellent place to explore opportunities for sustainability initiatives.
We encourage students, staff and visitors to get involved with the sustainability agenda. We now have a scheme where students can grow their own food on campus through the Student Eats project and a small allotment scheme which is open to staff, students and members of the public.
We have an arboretum with a National Collection of flowering cherries and we encourage visitors to visit the campus and follow self-guided walks around the campus buildings and the extensive lakes and woodland beyond Keele Hall.
In addition, we are exploring how the campus can be self-sufficient in terms of energy and are aiming to have reduced our carbon emissions by 34% by 2020.
We encourage students on our undergraduate BSc in Environmental Sustainability and MSc in Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology to carry out projects to support the sustainability understanding and performance of the university. Find out more about them here.
