Before the Day
All graduands wishing to attend a graduation ceremony and order the maximum of 4 guest tickets, need to register by 5pm on Friday 7 June 2019.
Please note, if you do not register that you are attending or wish to defer your graduation to a future ceremony you will automatically graduate in absentia. Graduating in absentia constitutes conferment of your award and you will not be eligible to attend future ceremonies.
You are able to book up to a maximum of four guest tickets.
Due to seating capacity, each graduand will have two guest tickets guaranteed within the Chapel. If you are booking the maximum amount of tickets you are entitled to, your remaining two guest tickets will be for the video link-up room on campus where all ceremonies are live streamed.
Please note, you are automatically allocated your own ticket when you register so you do not need to include yourself in the number of guest tickets.
All graduand and guest tickets are free of charge.
Tickets will be available for collection on the day of your ceremony. We do not post tickets out prior to graduation.
Please ensure you arrive 2 hours before your ceremony time and report to K2, Students' Union to collect your tickets and gown.
Additional guests without tickets are welcome to join us in celebrating your day on campus. All ceremonies will be live streamed on plasma screens in the Students' Union and Library Social Space. Please note, there may not always be seating available in these areas.

Academic dress and ordering your gown
Graduation ceremonies are a formal occasion which is reflected in the dress of graduands and their guests. Graduands are expected to dress formally and wear appropriate academic dress (robes). Graduands should wear:
- Trousers, shirt and tie
- Smart dress
- Blouse with skirt or trousers
Academic dress should be ordered from the University’s gown hire suppliers Ede and Ravenscroft via their website. The portal will be open after you have received your e-invitation to graduation.
The deadline for ordering your gown is Friday 7 June 2019.
Most graduands choose to hire their robes for the day; however, you can purchase robes if you wish.
- Wearing a shirt and tie or a blouse with buttons will make it easier to fix the hood of your academic dress.
- Hair pins are useful to secure the mortarboard (hat).
- Safety pins can be used to secure robes and hoods.
