Dr Daniel Allen, a Teaching Fellow in Human Geography, is making a wider impact as Media and Policy Advisor for the UK Wild Otter Trust.
In this voluntary role, Dr Allen helped the charity secure a licence from Natural England to humanely capture and relocate otters inadvertently trapped inside fenced fisheries in September 2016.
Daniel's ongoing public engagement can be found in the March issue of BBC Wildlife magazine.
Daniel also presented his new research, 'Changing Policy, Practice and Public Understandings of the Protected Otter in England' at the 'Environment and Society' seminar series at the University of York.
