Wallis Seaton, PhD candidate in Film and Television Studies, has recently published a chapter in Reading Lena Dunham’s Girls, an exciting new volume of essays on the pioneering HBO show ( Wallis’s essay, ‘Doing Her Best With What She’s Got’, looks at the way show-runner and star Dunham negotiates questions of identity and feminist politics through uses of social media, working in conjunction with her fictional persona in the show. The chapter connects to Wallis’s PhD research into feminist performance in recent film and television, which also includes analyses of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Hunger Games actor Jennifer Lawrence.
