Keele’s Neil Archer nominated for the Kraszna-Krausz Award 2017
Beyond a Joke: Parody in English Film and Television Comedy, by Keele Film Studies lecturer Dr Neil Archer, has been one of the 10 books nominated for 2017’s Kraszna-Krausz Award for Best Moving Image Book (http://www.kraszna-krausz.org.uk). The awards, the UK’s leading prize in this field, recognise achievement in international academic work on photography, film, television and new media. Dr Archer’s book, published by I.B. Tauris, looks at the significance of parody to English film and television culture since the 1960s, looking in particular at the ways the form has been used both as a critical tool in the representation of national identity, but also as a differentiation strategy for English screen media in the global market.
