Training services

All equipment is available for personal use by researchers after appropriate training.  However, we also offer technical assistance to perform your microscopy for you, depending on your needs, and the degree of specialisation required.

In addition, we offer basic training modules in the following:

  • Principles and practice of electron microscopy – covers basic theory with a demonstration of techniques and equipment
  • Principles and practice of confocal/two photon microscopy – covers basic theory with a demonstration of techniques and equipment
  • Conventional TEM – training in preparation, sectioning, use of the TEM and analysis/interpretation of images
  • Field emission SEM – training in preparation, use of FESEM and analysis/interpretation of images

More specialist training is offered in the following

  • Application and uses of confocal/two-photon microscopy
  • Wet scanning electron microscopy
  • Immunocytochemistry:
    • Immunofluorescence for epifluorescence or confocal microscopy
    • Imunogold for high resolution immunocytochemistry at the EM level
