If you elected to study a GCP at level 5 you must complete level 6 of the same pathway to receive the GCP certification. If you did not study a GCP at level 5 of your studies, you cannot take a GCP at level 6.

Although you can opt out of studying a GCP pathway, you will then no longer be entitled to obtain GCP pathway certification.

Global Challenge Pathways give you the opportunity to:

  • Present your ideas and outputs to employers, organisations and communities
  • Build a powerful digital showcase to carry your learning and achievements with you
  • Link your studies to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

You will also be able to take part in research-driven and external-facing projects which address current controversies and debates.

Climate Change and Sustainability

This module aims to give you the tools to critically evaluate the role of activism in driving change for sustainability and to design, execute and evaluate your own activist project. The module explores the history and debates within sustainability activism and examines different forms of activism and provides the space for you to drive sustainability activism in an area of interest.

The module draws on different disciplinary perspectives, experiences and case studies from around the world and different organisations drawing on theory and practice.

Digital Futures

Data are the building blocks of the digital world. Quadrillions of bytes of digital data are currently produced on a daily basis and the rate of increase is exponential. This data inform every aspect of our everyday lives - from democracy to health, from media to computing, from memory of the past to experiencing spaces in the present, and from the digital to the physical lives that we live.

This module immerses you in the study of digital data in a fascinating variety of forms and everyday-life uses. Working in inter-disciplinary project groups to address contemporary 'problems' of your own choosing and real-life challenging scenarios, you will explore and practice how digital data can be harnessed to make positive contributions to a sustainable world.

Enterprise and the Future of Work

This module is intended to form and frame a learning path for developing knowledge and understanding of the changing world of work alongside enterprise as a theme that crosses subject and national boundaries as well as physical workspaces.

The module recognises that successful enterprise is a combination of knowledge about business theory, trends, etc and the employability mindset to adapt and succeed in commercial/non-commercial, technological, and national/international settings as well as collaboration with partners and stakeholders.

You will have the opportunity to work with academics, partners and your peers on a number of real-life challenges designed to enhance your enterprise and employability profile and have the opportunity to publish perspectives on the global challenge both individually and as part of a research and action community.

Global Health Challenges

This second year module focuses on developing ways to improve global health and reduce health inequalities. The module will focus on developing skills to use information to develop ideas and projects to improve global health. You will work together and focus on how to work with individuals, populations and organisations to develop new approaches to improving quality of life. This will involve combining ideas from different disciplines to propose new strategies that can be tested for their effectiveness. It can also provide the basis for plans for year 3 when you will experience working to improve global health.

Social Justice

In this module we move towards developing the skills base for the engagement with social justice theory and practice, to develop strategic social justice interventions.

As an 'agent of change' you will collaborate with your peers to reach out to the local community to understand the social justice issues, and develop key resources to develop a 'Parallel Report', which you will disseminate the key findings and recommendations through a 'Rights Awareness Project'.
