The new Computer Science UG programmes at Keele
The session will provide an introduction to our UG courses in Computer Science. You will have a chance to ask questions and to get a taste of what a lecture feels like with a talk on: "Monitoring and simulating natural phenomena: when AI is inspired and informed by nature” (Charles Day) - “Observing and simulating some important natural phenomena has led to some of the most powerful AI/machine learning tools in use today. In this talk I'll draw on segments of lecture materials that I've delivered at Levels 4, 5 and 6 of the current Computer Science BSc course and include some software simulations to help illustrate a few important points. Along the way, we will see how far reaching the impact of some of these developments has been: from contributing to some of the UN's sustainability development goals, to advancing some of the UK's sector-leading AI applications”

The session will provide an introduction to our UG courses in Data Science. You will have a chance to ask questions and to get a taste of what a lecture feels like with a talk on: “Machine Representation of an Apple” (Vishwash Batra) – “In this session, I’d briefly take the students through an understanding of how humans have evolved to represent semantic concepts of objects in the real world (for instance an Apple), and I’d talk about introduction to machine learning through history examples”

This session is open to all students to attend. The Keele Foundation Year is an alternative pathway into our undergraduate degrees. It benefits individuals who have the potential to succeed at degree level but do not meet the entry criteria for their chosen undergraduate degree programme. This session provides an overview of the Keele Foundation Year and explains how our integrated pathway prepares students academically for year one of their degree programme. You will be able to meet our staff and ask questions about the Foundation Year throughout the session.

Studying Geography at Keele
Come and find out why Geography at Keele was ranked in the top 3 for student satisfaction (NSS 2019). Geography is uniquely positioned between the physical and social sciences enabling geographers to provide broad-ranging perspectives on a range of key societal challenges. Our focus on climate change, global responsibility, sustainability, and the application of professional geographical skills to real-world situations will prepare you for a wide range of careers and for life as a responsible global citizen. This talk provides an overview of the Geography degree programmes that we offer at Keele University, focusing on describing the course structure and topics covered, fieldwork and the career opportunities available to geography graduates.
