Analysing Elections

We will be looking at the US election of 2016 to analyse where Trump was successful and who voted for him in order to make sense of how he won the presidency. The session will demonstrate how pollsters make predictions and why this can be a very tricky task.

Personal Identity

What makes you the same person you were yesterday, or last week, or last year? What makes someone the same person throughout their lives? Is it your body, or something to do with your thoughts and memories? Or do people each have a soul which makes them who they are? The answers to these questions have implications for ethics and science. Explore different answers by thinking philosophically, by using reason and your imagination to determine what Personal Identity is.
