Grazyna Bacewicz
Pianist Diana Ambache is a leading authority on women composers and is currently writing a book on one of the outstanding female composers of the 20th century Grazyna Bacewicz. In this talk/ recital Ambache focuses on Bacewicz. Bacewicz was a highly esteemed figure in Poland who had works played alongside such illustrious contemporaries as Penderecki , Panufnik and Lutoslawski at the renowned Warsaw Autumn Festival.

Biography:
Diana Ambache formed the Amabache Ensemble specifically to accompany her in Mozart piano concertos, and the music of Mozart continues to make up a large part of the repertory. The other primary focus of the Ambache Ensemble is the interpretation of music composed by women, an area of study in which Ambache is a renowned expert. The group frequently plays at South Bank concerts and at St. John's Smith Square in London and is often broadcast on the BBC. It has toured extensively in support of Ambache's duo partner, oboist Jeremy Polmear. The Ambache Ensemble does not use a conductor; however, that has not prevented the group from recording extensively, as it has appeared on the Meridian, Naxos, Virgin Classics, Chandos, and Signum Classics labels.
