Exhibition: Impetus

The Society of Staffordshire Artists is a long established organisation first formed way back in 1933. Its principles remain the same today: to encourage and promote artistic interest, talent and ability in the visual arts, at both a professional and amateur level.

Impetus will offer a platform for art created by the Society as well as new work created by young and emerging local artists.

TAKE PART
Over the last few years the Society has expanded considerably, engaging a far wider audience and receiving ever greater participation. This exhibition will give the opportunity for non-society members to enter artwork to be considered for display, in particular the Society would like to receive work from younger artists who can add to both the collective and eclectic ethos of this forward thinking Society.

There is to be no set theme, but work submitted must be original and produced within the last two years of the artists’ submission. Winners and runners up will be offered a free year’s subscription to the Society and there are a number of cash prizes. The hope is that this competition will stimulate the support and interest of younger artists - the next generation to help promote further the cultural role and input of the Staffordshire society, and beyond. In short to give further IMPETUS to the development of the Visual Arts.
