Sustainability at Keele TALK

The SEND project

Our University, under Chancellor Sir Jonathon Porritt, continues to champion and lead on the global sustainability agenda. The school of Geography, Geology and Environment has organised a showcase where we will hear about their exciting developments on campus.

Sustainability is a priority at Keele University. Keele’s ambition is to become more energy self-sufficient with increased carbon saving, whilst also becoming a national research and development facility that undertakes world-leading research into environmental sustainability and educates students towards a more sustainable future.

In order to achieve this, the University is working with businesses, as well as graduates and academics, to create Europe’s first ‘at scale’ Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (SEND)* – a living laboratory where new energy-efficient technologies, consumer behaviour and business models can be researched, developed and tested in a real world environment.
