What to do if you have symptoms or a confirmed case of Covid-19, or you have been asked to self-isolate
We all have a part to play in keeping our communities safe and helping to control the spread of Covid-19.
What to do: students

If you have symptoms of Covid-19 then you should:
- Notify the University’s Covid Response Team, so that we can ensure you receive advice and support, and to help us to identify others who may need to self-isolate.
- Get a free NHS test as soon as possible. Until you have the test results, you and anybody who you live with must self-isolate. Find out how to self-isolate and how we will support you. There is also detailed information available about how to long self-isolate for on the NHS website.
If you test positive for Covid-19 then you should:
- Notify the University’s Covid Response Team, so that we can ensure you receive advice and support, and to help us to identify others who need to self-isolate.
- Continue to isolate, usually for at least 10 days, and anyone you live with should self-isolate for 10 days. Find out how to self isolate and how we will support you.
If you have had contact with another person who may have Covid-19, or you have been asked to self-isolate, you should:
- Notify the University’s Covid Response Team, so that we can ensure you receive advice and support, and to help us to identify others who may need to self-isolate.

What to do: staff
If you have symptoms of Covid-19 then you should get a free NHS test. Until you have the test results, you and anybody who you live with must self-isolate.
If you test positive then you need to notify the University’s Covid Response Team. You should also follow NHS guidance to continue to isolate, usually for at least 10 days, and anyone you live with should self-isolate for 10 days.
If you test negative, you should follow NHS advice after receiving your test result.
