An afternoon celebrating the science of Professor David Morgan last week culminated in the opening of the Morgan Laboratory. Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, Professor Mark Ormerod, introduced proceedings and two of Professor Morgan's old PhD students.

Professor Richard Evershed FRS, University of Bristol, then gave a lecture entitled "Reflections on a Keele Inspiration (Using Organic Chemistry in Ways you Never Imagined Possible)". Professor Neil Oldham, University of Nottingham, then summarised the research of E.D. Morgan, one of Keele's most prolific scientists with over 200 publications, with a continuous publication record of 60 years, from 1955 to 2015. In his brief address before opening the laboratory, Professor Morgan announced that he is setting up a legacy to help fund small research projects and student conference presentations.
