This module provides a learner-centred, supportive framework of workplace-based learning and assessment to, enabling students to evidence the requisite Day One Competences, as defined by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and to optimise student preparedness for working within the veterinary profession.

Aims
This module aims to provide a learner-centred, supportive framework of workplace-based learning and assessment enabling students to evidence the requisite Day One Competences, as defined by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and to optimise student preparedness for working within the veterinary profession.

School Rules

Minimum thresholds of competency attainment within this module will be evaluated using the CF rules issued under the Harper and Keele Vet School assessment regulations, where students will be given multiple attempts to evidence the minimum threshold requirements defined for each component of the module portfolios.
Direct observations of core competences and capabilities will occur via workplace-based learning throughout the Intramural Rotations (IMR), inclusive of further remediation and repeat evaluation where appropriate to ensure students have full opportunity to evidence requisite capabilities. All competency portfolio requirements must be successfully completed before award of degree.

Final Year Portfolio of Workplace-Based Learning
Comprehensive student-generated portfolio of workplace-based learning, observation and evaluation of professional competency, outcomes of personal & professional development and reflective practice, curated and collated over the duration of final year intramural rotations. Students will be required to evidence minimum thresholds of capability through attainment of core Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs), and will also have opportunity to profile their individual capabilities through non-core, species or discipline focussed EPAs. Multistakeholder feedback will be incorporated to review student performance and student development Students will audit and review their own clinical experience by logging and reflecting on clinical and professional experiences, generating learning objectives (mapped to the RCVS Day One Competences) and reflecting on their own personal and professional development.
