Aims
This module will provide underpinning knowledge of life course development in order to enable students to work effectively with a range of people who use social work services. Specifically, the module will identify the key factors and processes involved in, and impacting on, life course development and explore the psycho-social processes relevant to transitions across the life course.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate, through written discussion and analysis, an informed and systematic understanding of key theories of human development and develop a comprehensive understanding of the relevance of a life course perspective for social work practice contexts: 1
critically assess the role of stage and transition across the life course, including in the context of its socio-cultural construction, and apply it to social work practice contexts: 1
critically analyse the notion of diversity across the life course and its implications for social work practice: 1
critically evaluate key theories of human development and assess their relevance to social work practice utilising research from a range of disciplines: 1
