Description for 2021/22

This module provides underpinning knowledge to enable students to develop and apply their skills, knowledge and values in direct work with children and families. It will build on learning in year 1 (Level 4) and will enable students to develop a more critical understanding of the complexity of social work with children and families and inter-agency working.
This module meets the requirements set by the professional and regulatory bodies.

Aims
This module builds on the Level 4 module: Area of Practice (1): Working with Children and Families. It is designed to provide further underpinning knowledge of the experience and circumstances of children and families as service users and the service delivery context, to enable students to practice more effectively with this service user group. Specifically, students will further develop knowledge in relation to: Law; risk assessment; monitoring and review; working with children and families who have complex needs and interagency working. As at Level 4, a case-based learning approach will be adopted.
