Description for 2021/22

This module is designed to provide students with an introductory and underpinning knowledge of the experience and circumstances of adult service users and the service delivery context (law, policy and practice) in which social work with adults takes place, with a view to enabling students to practise effectively with adult service users.
A variety of methods will be utilised that will seek to address different learning styles. The key teaching and learning methods will be lectures, class discussion, seminars and workshops. There will be input from practitioners. Students will be expected to read widely for this module.
This module meets the requirements for the professional and regulatory bodies.

Aims
This module is designed to provide basic underpinning knowledge of the experience and circumstances of adult service users and the service delivery context (law, policy and practice) in which social work with adults takes place, with a view to enabling students to practise effectively with adult service users. A case-based learning approach will be adopted.
This Level 4 module introduces students to social work with adults. It is one of two modules, the second of which is at level five, which provides students with the underpinning knowledge and skills necessary to practise social work with adults. This module will make a significant contribution to meeting the requirements of the relevant benchmark statements for social work.
