This module allows students to build on the clinical skills developed in the first year and second year. Students will further develop and enhance their understanding of the processes of speech and language therapy practice through simulated learning sessions using adult clinical cases. Students will enhance their interprofessional practice, teamworking and working with service users, families and carers.
Aims
This module aims to provide students with opportunities to begin to develop knowledge of leadership from individual to groups, patient advocacy, and policy. This module aims to encourage students to consider how to approach the interplay of clinician and service user / family member personality traits, and how best to engage stakeholders in successful episodes of care.Students will be provided with opportunities to begin a CPD log enabling them to develop and demonstrate professional practice and reflect on their practice to further develop their skills and knowledge. The module further aims to provide students with opportunities to recognise the principles and practices of other health and care professionals and systems and how they interact with their professionDuring placement preparation students will be given the opportunity to critically reflect upon their personal development and learning needs.During placement education students are given the opportunity to adapt and critically reflect on their interpersonal skills. With the support of practice educators, students will develop their speech and language therapy knowledge, decision-making and management planning abilities.
