Description for 2026/27

The module introduces you to the concept of health and wellbeing with a focus on primary prevention and health promotion. Key skills developed in this module include the ability to explain the relationship between communication, health and wellbeing, and factors that challenge communication development and contribute to prevention and re-ablement and self-management of speech, language and swallowing difficulties.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Group Assessment weighted 100%
Health and wellbeing presentation in a small group ( approximately 4-6 apprentices)
In small groups (normally 4-6), apprentices will create a health and wellbeing on-line presentation for an audience that could include service-users, parents, carers, or other professionals who may work alongside Speech and Language Therapists. One group mark will be allocated. Apprentices will complete a Microsoft Form to evaluate the contribution of their peers, rating each group member on a scale of 1–5. This peer-assessment component will account for 20% of the overall module mark.
