This module will provide you with knowledge regarding the anatomy, neuroanatomy and physiology involved in communication and eating, drinking and swallowing. An understanding of how these key structures allow us to communicate and swallow efficiently, as well as understand how a breakdown within these systems might impact our ability to communicate and swallow, is a key skill developed in this module.
Aims
This module will provide apprentices with knowledge relating to the anatomy and physiology of key structures of the head, neck, and upper aerodigestive tract relevant to speech, language, hearing, and swallowing. Apprentices will learn about how these key structures allow us to communicate and swallow efficiently, as well as understand how a breakdown within these systems might impact our ability to communicate and swallow. This knowledge will provide the foundation for understanding clinical concepts related to speech, language and swallowing disorders.
Intended Learning Outcomes
