Focusing specifically on adaptive technique, Computed Tomography Head and body scans and Fluoroscopy imaging within the assessment structure and undertaking these examinations using evidence-based practice and appropriate radiographic interventions. Interprofessional education will also be covered.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Reflect upon the factors that inform and affect interactions with patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team and modify academic learning to meet individual patient needs within the practice setting: 1,2,3,4
Classify verbal and written information and prioritise it appropriately in terms of its relation to patient management and record keeping: 1,2,3,4
Plan and implement safe diagnostic imaging in general radiography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) , Computed Tomography (CT) and radiography in the theatre setting.: 3,4,5,7
Differentiate between common diagnoses, pathologies and the effectiveness of different radiological investigations for diagnosis using clinical reasoning skills.: 2,3,4
Appraise own strengths and areas for development and choose the appropriate individuals from whom to seek help: 1,3,4
Identify and implement the Society of Radiographers Code of Professional Conduct and the Health and Care Professions Council Guidance on Conduct and Ethics for Students within this practice experience.: 1,2,3,4,6,7
Show the principles of autonomy of practice, leadership and management in the clinical and educational placement setting: 1,2,3,4,6

Description of Module Assessment

1: Review weighted 0%
Mid and end placement professional proficiencies
A review of the students ability to meet professional competencies outlined by the Society of Radiographers Code of Professional Conduct and the Health and Care Professions Council Guidance on Conduct and Ethics for Students within this practice experience and their overall professional behaviour. Failure to achieve a pass in the end point element of assessment will result in a 0 non submission for assessment 2 VIVA.

2: Viva weighted 30%
Verbal viva examination

Student is given an hour to complete preparation for the seen question that is scenario based questions relating to clinical reasoning and critical thinking must be applied to the scenario. Unseen element will explore a critical thinking authentic time sensitive clinical scenario.

3: Practice Based Assessment weighted 35%
ACE Clinical assessment (not undertaken previously at level 5)
Within their PE3A and PE3B placement period, the student (based on their clinical experience and areas of clinical rotation) will complete ONE (1) of a choice of THREE (3) Actual Clinical Encounter (A.C.E) assessments (not achieved in the PE2A/B period). The student is required to evaluate the effectiveness of the radiological investigation for diagnosis and demonstrate awareness of the limits of their competence and from whom to seek help.

4: Practice Based Assessment weighted 35%
ACE Clinical assessment (not undertaken previously at level 5 and 6)
Within their PE3A and PE3B placement period, the student (based on their clinical experience and areas of clinical rotation) will complete ONE (1) of a choice of THREE (3) Actual Clinical Encounter (A.C.E) assessments (not achieved in the PE2A/B period). The student is required to evaluate the effectiveness of the radiological investigation for diagnosis and demonstrate awareness of the limits of their competence and from whom to seek help.

5: Competence weighted 0%
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) competency check list
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) competency check list to demonstrate MRI safety and imaging techniques for standard MRI projections of the head, spine, knee or suitable alternative. Assessment can be undertaken at level 5 or 6, but needs to be evidenced on PARE prior to this module completing as a final competency in line with HCPC (Health and Care Profession Council) SOPs (Standards of proficiency).

6: Placement weighted 0%
Educational leadership placement and project dissemination
Engagement in education leadership placement rotation, 37.5 hours, completion of project and dissemination of project at leadership conference.
