Description for 2025/26

This module introduces you to the structural organisation of the human body and enables you to gain the necessary knowledge and understanding of the anatomy, physiology and basic pathological processes of the human axial skeletal and respiratory, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal systems alongside basic neuroanatomy with specific reference to radiographic practice, image interpretation and radiation effects on the human body.

Aims
This module introduces students to the structural organisation of the human body and enables students to gain the necessary knowledge and understanding of the anatomy, physiology and basic pathological processes of the human axial skeleton, neuroanatomy, respiratory and cardiovascular system and cellular structure and with specific reference to radiographic practice, image interpretation and radiation effects on the human body.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate biological science underpinning the study of the anatomy, physiology and pathology of the human body, including radiation effects on the human body.: 1
Describe the physiology of respiration, the bony axial skeleton and its associated joints: 1
Describe the common pathological processes affecting the human body including radiation effects: 1
Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the normal anatomy of the axial bony skeleton and associated joints, chest and abdomen anatomy, neuroanatomy and cardiovascular anatomy, including radiographic appearances: 1
