Aims
To develop students' knowledge and skills in:identifying and formulating a research design to answer a specific research question, including methods of data/information collection and analysis;presenting a scientifically and/or clinically coherent justification for a proposed research project;evaluating the ethical requirements of a proposed research project.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Design a framework of reference (such as a rationale based on published literature) to support the relevance of a proposed research question, critical thinking and high levels of concise written communication.: 1Select and present appropriate and comprehensive methods of gathering data or information that are coherent with the research question.: 1Examine evidence of selecting an appropriate method of analysis that is coherent with a proposed research question and design.: 1Critically recognise the ethical implications, evaluate risk and propose risk management strategies specific to the proposed research project.: 1Judiciously select appropriate potential dissemination strategies for the proposed research.: 1
30 hours of teaching include:~25 hours of synchronous lectures~03 hours of tutorials/ small group working,~ 02 hours of assessment practice120 hours independent which includes:~90 hours of self-directed study,~20 hours of directed self-study,~10 hours of assessment preparation
Description of Module Assessment
1: Research Proposal weighted 100%A research project proposal (2000 words)A research project proposal ( 2000 words). This piece of work will include a 500 word rationale, preparation of any documents required for ethical approval and/or research governance, and a plan for dissemination.
