The module brings together the concepts of health promotion, primary and secondary prevention and health behaviour change, and provides a context for the study of prosthetic and orthotic rehabilitation. Students explore the factors which affect health and wellbeing and also the theories, models and principles which underlie health behaviour change. Health promotion strategies are evaluated.
Aims
To deepen the student understanding of health promotion, primary and secondary prevention, and health behaviour change.To provide a context for the study of rehabilitation.To equip the student with the knowledge and skills to analyse health promotion strategies in the context of behaviour change theories, models and principles.
Intended Learning Outcomes

30 hours of teaching include:~27 hours of tutor-led hours which may include lectures, workshops, seminars, tutorials ~03 hours of assessment preparation classes.120 hours of independent study include:~90 hours of self-directed study~20 hours of guided independent study.~10 hours of assessment preparation.

Analyse a selected health promotion strategy/strategies in the context of relevant theories, models, and principles of behaviour change.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the selected health promotion strategy.
