Description for 2026/27

This module forms part of the MSc Physiotherapy programme at Keele, an innovative programme of study designed to prepare graduates for clinical practice in evolving health and social care settings.
This module will enable you to understand the characteristics of effective leadership and service delivery, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to lead the delivery of high-quality healthcare.

Aims
This module aims to provide students with a critical understanding of the role of effective leadership in healthcare while developing the skills and knowledge needed to plan, implement, and deliver high-quality healthcare services.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Presentation weighted 100%
30 minute Individual oral presentation
The assessment will involve a 20-minute presentation followed by 10 minutes of questions and answers with the examiner/s, focused on the critical evaluation of a real-world healthcare service (selected by the student). The assessment will explore four concepts including: 1. The role of leadership (context, culture, challenges) 2. Workforce management, 3. Service delivery, strengths and weaknesses and 4. Opportunities for enhancement - details of the quality improvement plan. The students are required to submit a PDF copy of the slides/presentation on the day of the summative assessment.
