Description for 2024/25

This module forms part of the MSc Physiotherapy programme at Keele which is an innovative programme of study which prepares the graduate for clinical practice in changing health and social care settings.
The Foundations of Physiotherapy Assessment module introduces the student to the knowledge and skills required to undertake and interpret the information gained from a subjective and objective assessment in order to formulate an effective management plan within each of the main specialties of physiotherapy: musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiovascular and respiratory practice.

Aims
To enable the student to analyse the components of a physiotherapy assessment in core areas of practice in order to plan, implement and evaluate a physiotherapy assessment.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Study hours

68 tutor led hours which may include lectures, workshops, seminars, tutorials and two hours of assessment preparation classes etc.
82 hours of independent study including 40 hours of guided independent study.
