Description for 2021/22

This module forms part of the BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy programme at Keele University and Practice Experience 3 builds on university and practice-based experience in Years 1 and 2. Students have the opportunity through physiotherapy practice experience to further develop and apply knowledge and skills in both assessment and therapeutic techniques. This module is part of an innovative integrated programme which prepares the graduate for clinical practice in changing health and social care settings.
The programme reflects the shifting emphasis away from increasing the quantity of care available towards enhancing the quality of care, moving away from a medical disease model towards a health model based on personal responsibility and prevention of disease and recognising the diverse settings in which future physiotherapists may practice.
The student studies in campus-based settings and a variety of practice settings. During practice-based experience students will be supported by experienced practice educators who will assess the practice component of the programme.
Graduates of the 3 year programme are eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council and membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
