Description for 2023/24

The Anatomy, Physiology and Movement Science - Neurological, Cardiovascular and Respiratory (N, CVR) (AHP) module introduces students to the normal anatomy and physiology of the human cardiovascular and neurological systems and provides a basic introduction to movement science. The module offers the student the opportunity to gain underpinning anatomy, physiology and movement science knowledge within the neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory systems of the body.

Aims
To introduce the normal anatomy and physiology of the human body, focusing on the neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory systems
To provide a basic introduction to movement science within the neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory systems of a healthy adult
To introduce terminology associated with movement science focusing on the neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Intended Learning Outcomes

describe the anatomy and physiology of the human neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory systems: 1,2
recognise and begin to analyse normal anatomical presentation and physiological function in the neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory systems utilising the principles of movement science: 1,2
explain the relevance and role of physiological measurements (neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory systems): 1,2

Study hours

40 tutor led hours which may include lectures, practical classes and workshops, seminars, tutorials and two hours of assessment preparation classes etc.
110 hours of independent study.

School Rules

Description of Module Assessment

1: Exam weighted 40%
1 hour multiple choice questions
A 1 hour examination with up to thirty questions. This will test knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory systems and related aspects of movement science.

2: Oral Exam weighted 60%
A 10 minute oral examination
An oral examination of 10 minutes. The knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology of the neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory systems will be explored (sampled from either the neurological or the cardiovascular and respiratory systems).
