Description for 2026/27

Physical activity and exercise are crucial for our health and this module will explore reasons why people do or do not engage in physical activity and exercise. In this module you'll be introduced to models around inactivity and how to encourage positive behaviour changes around exercise. You will also be able to develop interventions and examine how Sport and Exercise Psychologists can support and encourage individuals to engage in and benefit from physical activity and exercise.

Aims
This module aims to introduce students to relationships between exercise/physical activity and health. Students will develop an understanding of current issues in health and exercise psychology and be able to identify factors that could effect physical activity across different populations.
