Description for 2025/26

In this module, you will be introduced to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) skills and practice and their applications to mental health conditions, such as phobias and OCD. This module will build on content you learnt in the 2nd year module psy-20062, where you were introduced to CBT theory. You will further develop your understanding of the skills involved in carrying out CBT assessments and treatments by considering and critically reviewing empirical research.

Aims
This module aims to build on content from psy-20062 where you learnt about the theory of cognitive & behavioural therapy (CBT). In this module, you will be taught about the use of CBT in relation to more severe mental health conditions, such as OCD, addiction, etc. You will also gain a deeper understanding of CBT skills and practice.
