Description for 2025/26

Your university study may be driven by curiosity about the physical world, but it is also about developing graduate attributes that lead to successful and fulfilling careers. The activities and milestones in our career planning modules will grow your potential beyond Physics knowledge. In Level 4, you will learn to identify, evidence and showcase your subject specific as well as transferable skills. You will acquire tools to effectively select and prepare for potential work placements in Levels 5 and 6.

Aims
This module aims to enable students to recognise the skills they are developing beyond their Physics knowledge. Students will consider what skills will be important in potential future careers and how they can gain further experience of these through work experience and placements. Students will identify and begin a record of where they are developing these skills.

Skills portfolio
Using a MS Notebook template students can begin building their skills portfolio by recording what skills they are currently developing, against the framework of expected graduate attributes from the Institute of Physics who accredit the degree programme. Equivalent to approximately 500 words.
