Description for 2024/25

Students will be able to evaluate professionalism within the clinical context and be integrate their values and experience (and reflection on experience) of proto-professionalism occurring in concert with the professional's evolving knowledge and skills base. Influences on proto-professionalism are considered in terms of moral and psycho-social development and reflective judgement.

Crticially review current literature and practice in the assessment of professionalism, professional values and attitudes and apply this to the development of suitable strategies and methods within their own educational settings: 1,2
Develop and evaluate strategies for integrating teaching about professionalism within the curriculum: 1,2

Study hours

Active Learning:
10 hours on-line teaching (asynchronous)
6 hours on-line peer review, evaluation and assessment (synchronous)
4 hours presentation preparation (synchronous)
Independent Study:
100 hours self study including academic reading and research (asynchronous)
30 hours assignment preparation for the project {poster preparation}, (asynchronous)

Description of Module Assessment

1: Project weighted 70%
Electronic poster presentation
Produce a poster that critically appraises the assessment of professionalism, professional values and attitudes in your own clinical or educational situation, in relation to current evidence and practice.

2: Presentation weighted 30%
Students will present their poster as if it was a 'conference poster presentation'
Students will present a poster that critically appraises the assessment of professionalism, professional values and attitudes in their own clinical or educational situation, in relation to current evidence and practice. The presentation may last up to 5 minutes and then they will be asked questions for up to 10 minutes.
