Description for 2025/26

This module forms part of the MSc Occupational Therapy (pre-registration) programme at Keele which is an innovative programme of study which prepares the graduate for diverse practice settings.
Transition into Occupational Therapy Studies provides you with the opportunity to develop your understanding of the Occupational Therapy profession and develop skills, knowledge and attributes that are essential for a health and social care professional. In addition, you will be supported in reflecting on your knowledge and previous experiences in order to identify learning needs and action plans to support your development in knowledge relating to anatomy, physiology and movement science and communication.

Aims
This module aims to assist students in developing their knowledge of continuing professional development (CPD) and professionalism in their preparation for practice as an occupational therapist. The module will enable students to reflect, identify learning needs and action plan, addressing gaps in knowledge relating to anatomy, physiology and movement science.

Study hours

58 tutor-led hours which includes:
~ 19 hours lectures,
~ 33 hours practical workshops and seminars
~ 6 hours of assessment preparation.
92 hours of independent study which includes:
~ 72 hours self-directed study;
~ 20 hours of assessment preparation.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Exam weighted 60%
Computer-based exam
Students will undertake a computer based exam of 60 minutes duration which will include multiple choice and short answer questions.

2: Viva weighted 40%
Communication scenario
Students will undertake a 20 minute interactive role play communication scenario viva.
