Description for 2024/25

This module forms part of the MSc Occupational Therapy (pre-registration) programme at Keele which is an innovative programme of study which prepares the graduate for diverse practice settings.
The Research Project module builds on the Research Proposal module and enables the student the opportunity to implement the research proposal presented in the previous module and produce a structured written report of their work. The module aims to develop a students ability to carry out subsequent research independently and commission, manage and evaluate the research activities of others.

Aims
To further develop the student's research skills to design, execute and report on a research project.
To develop research skills to promote the student¿s ability to independently conduct research and be able to commission, manage and evaluate the research activities of others.

Intended Learning Outcomes

identify, extract, compare and critique relevant evidence related to a specific research question.: 1
demonstrate intellectual rigour in the organisation, manipulation, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data that is coherent with a specific research question.: 1
summarise, compare, contrast and synthesise research findings in a research report.: 1
produce a report of appropriate style, organisation and structure, which is communicated to a high level of written English and displays evidence of critical thinking, independence of thought and an understanding of advanced concepts and methods related to research.: 1
independently lead a research project to completion (incorporating organisational, time management, communication, collaborative working and IT skills).: 1

Study hours

41 tutor led active learning hours to include:
~ 10 hours lectures,
~ 15 hours workshops,
~ 10 hours seminars and tutorials
~ 6 hours of individual project supervision. The majority of sessions are provided to support and prepare for the assignment.
259 hours of independent study to complete the thesis.
